Allied (NEW) and Patriots Day Trailers


Another potential Oscar contender from the heralded filmmaker, Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump and Back to the Future), makes its way into theaters at the end of November. Allied features Brad Pitt as an intelligence officer in North Africa during World War II who crosses paths with a French Resistance fighter (Marion Cotillard), and their developing relationship becomes complicated by the challenges of the war. Boasting a high-profile pair of leads and a renowned director, Allied becomes an intriguing fall prospect that could impact the awards season.





Peter Berg recently unveiled his latest true-story drama, Deepwater Horizon, which happened to be accompanied by a sneak peek into Berg's next project, Patriots Day. Slated for an early release in January of 2017, the film centers around an officer (Mark Wahlberg) and various others involved with the horrific Boston Marathon bombing and the manhunt which followed in 2013. Berg has certainly followed a formulaic approach to his true-story works lately, and Patriots Day is sure to be another effort programmed to tug at the heartstrings of its viewers. 2017 SXSW Film Festival Preview

I'm thrilled to announced that I'll be attending the 2017 SXSW Film Festival (courtesy of Geekscape ) beginning in Austin, Texas this Friday. The festival offers an eclectic selection of world premieres and upcoming releases featuring some of Hollywood's most prominent acting talent and unique visionaries. I can't wait to enjoy 5 days of binge movie-watching! Oscar Talk - 11/22/2016

With Golden Globe nominations less than 3 weeks out, the Awards season is just starting to heat up. Both Ben Affleck's Live by Night  and Denzel Washington's Fences  have recently screened for the first time while Martin Scorsese's Silence will premiere later this month, leaving the Oscar picture a bit cloudy at the moment. However, there's still enough buzz floating around to mold together an idea of how the major races appear to be shaping up. Let's take a look. Best Supporting Actress Likely Nominees:  Hindsight is 20/20 and, although I even felt it at the time, it's impossible not to look back and acknowledge that Viola Davis should have won the Best Actress Oscar for her work in 2011's The Help (Meryl Streep won for Iron Lady ).
